Until reading this, I didn't really have the verbiage to articulate that sentiment as succinctly. Smaller stories doesn't mean less impactful! Some of my favorite essays have been about the seemingly mundane: learning to stand up paddle board, the death of two hamsters, peeling an orange, going to the farmer's market with a grandfather, walking a pet goat through an urban landscape. Those are the stories that are genuine and filled with insight and personality!
